Sharon’s Transformation:

When Sharon first walked through the doors at True Conditioning in July 2019, at 48 years old, she was at the heaviest point in her life.
She wasn’t thinking about transforming her body.
She wasn’t dreaming about deadlifting heavy weights or working out almost every day.
She simply wanted her knees to stop hurting so she could continue doing the job she loved.
At her very first session, she parked about 200 metres from the gym. After training, she had to stop and sit on a bench halfway back to her car. When she got home, she lay on the couch for three hours just to recover.
That was our starting point.
Sharon’s original goal wasn’t to transform her entire life. It was simply to commit to eight weeks of personal training and hopefully make her knees feel a little better.
Neither of us knew those eight weeks would become the beginning of a seven-year journey.

One Step at a Time
We started with two personal training sessions each week.
No extreme workouts.
No crash diets.
No unrealistic expectations.
Just meeting Sharon where she was and helping her get a little stronger every week.
As her strength improved, something incredible happened.
Exercise started feeling like a reward.
Her knee pain started to decrease. Her confidence grew. She added group fitness classes, then eventually progressed into our small group strength training program.

Today, Sharon trains 5–6 days a week, has built an incredible amount of strength and muscle, and has even hit deadlift personal records she never imagined were possible.
If you had told Sharon in 2019 that she would become someone who genuinely enjoys lifting weights, she would have laughed.
Today she says:
“I never thought I’d become someone who actually enjoys exercising. Now I genuinely miss the gym if I don’t come.”
That might be one of the biggest transformations of all.
Learning How to Eat
Exercise was only part of the story.
Sharon had never really been taught how to properly fuel her body.
She didn’t understand portion sizes, protein needs, or how to build balanced meals. She relied heavily on convenience foods and had never really looked at her nutrition habits before.
About three weeks into training, I asked if she wanted to come in early for some nutrition coaching.
Then I asked her to write down everything she ate for three days.
Her response?
“Panic!”
Not because she wasn’t capable—but because it was the first time she had really looked honestly at her habits.

From there, we focused on education, not restriction.
She learned how to build balanced meals, increase her protein, track her food, and adjust her calories and macros based on her goals.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is thinking they need to diet forever. Sustainable fat loss isn’t about constantly eating less—it’s about knowing when to push, when to spend time at maintenance, and how to create habits you can actually maintain for life.
Once Sharon learned how to fuel her body properly, everything started to click.
No crash diets.
No quick fixes.
No magic solution.
No Ozempic.
Just years of consistent training, better nutrition, and thousands of small choices repeated over time.
The Real Transformation
One of my favourite moments happened recently.
Sharon told me her family doctor referred to her as being fit.
Her response?
“Are you talking about me?”
That says everything.
After seven years, she’s still learning to see herself the way everyone else sees her.
Sharon often tells people:
“If I can do it, anybody can. There is nothing special about me.”
I disagree.
What makes Sharon special isn’t the amount of weight she’s lost.
It’s that she kept showing up.
She completed more than 1,300 workouts.
She trusted the process.
She stayed consistent through the ups and downs.
She didn’t look for shortcuts.
She simply kept making the next good decision.

What Sharon’s Story Teaches Us
Transformation doesn’t happen in eight weeks.
It doesn’t happen because of one perfect workout or one perfect meal.
It happens through hundreds of small decisions made consistently over time.
One workout.
One healthy meal.
One habit.
One day at a time.
If Sharon could go back and talk to the woman who walked into the gym that first day, she’d probably say:
“You have absolutely no idea what is about to happen to your life.”
And I couldn’t agree more.
If you’re reading this and wondering whether it’s too late, whether you’re too out of shape, or whether lasting change is possible, Sharon is living proof that it is.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to take the first step.
We’ll meet you where you are—and help you build the rest.
